Clearclad : electrophoretic technology to cover almost any metal
Clearclad: High performance coatings covering the world

Advantages of Clearclad

The main advantage is its ability to apply a consistent thickness, especially over very complex shapes.  As the coatings is deposited it starts to insulate the part.   As the coating builds up so does its insulating properties, this allows the thickness in low current density areas to catch up with the high current density areas.   The thickness of the coating is easily controlled by the applied voltage, and the thickness is uniform accross the part.  This is especially important when applying dyed finishes to simulates metals etc. as it allows you to apply a constant colour to every part on every rack, everyday.

    Other advantages:

  • Water-based application avoids flammability problems
  • Low VOC's
  • Material utilization efficiency near to 100%
  • Minimal effluent and waste production
  • Ease of automation
  • Ideal for incorporation into existing production lines
  • Unique decorative effects available

CLEARCLAD is an advantageous process for people using electroplating, either in order to enhance and protect the existing plated surface, or to eliminate plating partially or completely and apply a performance coating directly onto base metal or a simpler system of plated layers. For example, CLEARCLAD can effectively simulate brass plating on zinc die-castings by direct application to the zinc base metal, CLEARCLAD can simulate colored anodized finishes over aluminum and give the finisher more control over the final color. LVH offers a range of products which have appropriate properties for various applications.
